Black Chic Flowers + BAO Items of the Week

After over 10 years of not being in touch, I was reunited with an old and dear friend of mine and yesterday she came over to my place to pick up the necklace and earrings I made for her to wear to her son’s bar-mitzvah. It was so nice to see her!!!! We spent years together, when we first arrived in Israel and both of us were single and carefree (she has 5 kids now!!!)… we partied in Tel Aviv a LOT! I remember her dancing on tables at this crazy bar! We had so much fun!!! and it was just such a pleasure to see her again!

She asked me to make a variation of the Black Chic Choker and matching earrings and here they are:

Judging from the huge smile, I think she was happy with them :-) and I asked her whether I could take a picture of her wearing them. Most of my pieces end up being shipped abroad, so I rarely get to see the person who bought them wearing them. She promised to send me photos of her wearing them at the bar mitzvah all dolled up! and I can’t wait to see them!!!

Life + BAO Item of the Week

All my plans for beading vanished when my poor little baby broke his arm on Saturday… I had no idea it was broken, he was such a brave little boy… after the initial cries when he fell, he calmed down, slept through the night and only in the morning when he told me that his arm was still hurting, did I take him to the doctor… bad mummy!!!! well the doctor also didn’t think it was broken, judging by his happy and smiley demeanour… but to be safe she sent me to the emergency room to see an orthopaedic doctor and get some x-rays done… and yup, not one, but two breaks were found…. what a brave little man I’ve got!!!! We spent hours at the emergency room and he didn’t complain once…. but as soon as the doctor started plastering his arms, that is when he freaked out and the water works started… apparently he was worried that all his friends would laugh at him and his cast… it cost me 12 Bakugans to calm him down :-)

So I spent most of the week entertaining him and spoiling him rotten!!! and on Thursday, Grandpa and I took him to the safari park .

So, needless to say… another week with no beading to show!!! :-) I did start on a variation of the Black Chic Flowers, commissioned by an old friend, hopefully that will be finished by tomorrow… and if no more dramas happen between now and next week, I should be buckling down to some serious (much needed) beading sessions!!! :-)

In the meantime, here are this week’s fabulous BAO items of the week:

BAO Items of the Week

It’s been a strange week…. after having found one of my designs copied, and having confronted the culprit and asked her to at a minimum credit me with the original design… the outcome was a very rude and public reply, calling me names… I sort of lost the desire to bead… or do anything else for that matter… the whole incident left me depleted and sad… However, the response from the amazing beading community was so warm and supportive… and I can say that after having “mourned” for a week or so… I’m now excited to start beading again… sometimes it’s good to take a bit of time off!!!

This week the BAO has put together an amazing collections of goodies – go to the BAO blog and check out what offers are attached to these beautiful items:

Night Sunset Bracelt

Here it is… as promised… my new bracelet! :-)

The first beaweaving technique I ever learnt was Right Angle Weave (RAW). I love this stitch!!!! it’s so versatile! You can use it flat, you can build on it, you can make 3-dimensional shapes out of it… it’s amazing!!! In an effort to try RAW out , I spent huge amounts of time making different designs… this one was one of my first. As you saw yesterday, I cleared up my workspace and in doing so I found one of my first bracelets… covered in dust at the bottom of a box… I had forgotten all about it, and realized that I really like it, so I decided to make another one, using different colours… This is the result:

Night Sunset Bracelet

I haven’t stopped wearing it since I made it! I really love it!!! The pictures don’t do the richness of the colours justice… The orange Swarovski sparkles beautifully in contrast to the black matt firepolished bead and turquoise matt Swarovski crystals!

If you are interested in me making one for you, check out my shop for details! :-)
