More Chic... thank you Bettina!

Who would have thought that when I made the first Tropical Chic Choker for the EtsyBeadWeavers' Tropical Holiday Challenge that they would have turned out so popular!!!

Apart from the fact that I really enjoy making these and have made a few variations in different bright colourful combinations, I also made some for each of my sisters for their birthdays; one in pink for Silvia and one in dark navy/purple for Claudia, and had a custom order for a fuchsia one.... but I would probably not have thought of making these in black had it not been for my cousin who asked me to make her some... and so I did and am so thrilled with how they turned out that am actually thinking of making myself a set!!! I really love these!!! and so for the inspiration I need to thank Bettina!!! thank you so much!!! I hope you get to enjoy wearing the Black Chic Choker and Black Chic Earrings as much as I enjoyed making them!!!! and hope you love them as much as I do!!!

Apart from these... I have been working on a very luscious bead-embroidered cuff... it's so close to being finished... I think I'm about 45 minutes away from the end.... but have been so distracted lately, that it's has not progressed... this weekend I will be busy with my real job, so I don't think I'll get it done... but maybe, if I can find an hour to spare... and a few more to photograph it... I should have it posted, hopefully, by next week...

And on a personal note.... we have adopted a new puppy!!!! This gorgeous little thing was abandoned together with her sister on one of our busiest highways.... my wonderful neighbours rescued them and are keeping one... my son and I are taking the other one. Meet little Houdini, she will be moving in with us in a couple of weeks!!! :-)

There are so many places these dogs could have been left at, why the people who had them chose to leave them on a busy highway is beyond my comprehension!!! I am so grateful to my neighbours for finding them and for letting us have one. I'm sure she will be a wonderful addition to our family!!!

I love going to the post office!!!!!

On Thursday I received a notice from the post office telling me that a package had arrived... unfortunately the post office here is closed on Fridays, so I had to wait till this morning to go and pick up my parcel... I knew what was in there... I was waiting for this beautiful, handmade glass Murano bead from ArtBeads.... and yes it arrived!!!! I rushed home and cannot even begin to tell you how stunning this bead is!!!!!

The picture does not depict all of its glory. First of all this gorgeous bead is hollow, which for some reason is not what I was expecting, it is so much more delicate and beautiful than I could have possibly imagined!!!!! The bronze stripes shimmer and in between those stripes the glass is transparent therefore allowing you to see right through!!!! Oh, I can't stop looking at it and drooling over this bead!!! STUNNING!!!!

My challenge now is to create something around it which does it justice!!!! the wheels have started turning and churning!!! Go check out this bead and the other variations it comes in: Murano Glass Beads - they are all so gorgeous!!!!

ArtBeads are a great online place to shop for your beads - I usually get most of my Swarovski Crystal Beads from there, and I can honestly say that they not only have very competitive prices but they also offer wonderful customer service! Highly recommend them!

Ok, now onto my task of thinking up how to create something wonderful and befitting this gorgeous bead!!! Stay tuned! :-)

Well I haven't managed to blog or do anything this week... I've been crazy busy with stuff for Purim.... I was beading a new piece, but hate how it turned out, so am leaving it for at least a week and will go back to it to see if it is salvageable.... after all I have spent over 40 hours on it... quite sad... but I will live :-) I've got a journal due at the end of the month, so am really busy with "real" work... and my son is off from kindergarten for 3 whole days!!!! so no new beadwork for a while, but in the mean time here are this week's items from the BeadArtOriginals, make sure you go and check them out and see what specials are attached to each one!!!

Pink Chic - Choker

I designed and made this piece for my sister Silvia's birthday which was last month. She likes very simple things and all that is pink (lucky for her she was blessed with 2 little girls, so she gets to do the pink thing a lot!).... and only silver!!! It took me a while to come up with the right combination of pinks and silver, but this was the result... and best of all she said she loved it (unless she only said so because she didn't want to hurt my feelings :-D).
